About the project
Main Event is a site George (http://www.georgesabev.com), Chris and I developed to showcase the most exclusive and exciting events and venues in Cape Town. We worked tirelessly on this project as a team and feel so proud to have it live.
George was the designer – he and Chris drafted designs upon designs before a final crack was reached. I was responsible for the coding of the site both frontend and backend, the database design of the site, as well as developing a content management system for the site.
The dyanamic flash header was developed by Wayne Langman – Freelancer
Main Event Phase I was lauched on the 23rd of March 2009 after two years of consistent crafting of both its design, its features and core functionalities.
At the moment we are busy developing Phase 2 and will introduce new and cool features as well as implementing Search Optimisation Practices.
Some features on this site are:
- A Dynamic flash header showcasing some events and venues set to featured.
- Members Registration with features such as : adding event to profile and adding venues to profile – Phase 2 will introduce more member features.
- Search events/venues/galleries based on area
- AJAX gallery view
- Invite a friend tool
- Featured Photographer of the month
- Venue details of each venue showcased: contact information, location, map, galleries etc
- Event details of each event showcased: rsvp person where applicable, price per person where applicatable, type of event: onceoff or reocurring, date of event and time.
