About the project
Virtual Project Consulting is a website powered by Wordpress, where entrepreneurs and business owners can get expert advice on managing their business projects.
I was approached by Linky van der Merwe (owner and founder of Virtual Private Consulting) with a desperate need to have her blog set up in order to sell her consultancy services online. She had two cases of two different individuals promising to help her set it up, but they both left her blogless at the end of the day. One was totally against Wordpress. The other had this ‘dead’ and incomplete theme installed for her. What a mess!
The first thing i told her when we meet was to get rid of that horrible theme she had on her site. No one would buy products from a site like that looks like that.
It took a bit of convincing to assure that I wasn’t going to NOT deliver on the task. I totally understood where she was coming from.
One of the core needs for her was getting the right theme to brand her business online. After hours of research, I found an excellent WP theme by Design Disease. It was just the perfect theme. It had all the features she wanted:
- Must have a blue theme – because she loves blue
- Must be a 2-column layout – she wanted this for SEO reasons
- Must have the capacity of showing her 2 products and selling them online.
- Strategically place the affiliate links she has purchased on this blog
At the end of the day she was sorted and all her requirements where met.
Update:
Linky approached me that she needs to sell some of her consulting products online and has an account with Setcom. So I am currently working on credit card payment integration for her with Setcom.
